I am currently 33 weeks pregnant and have been informed that if labor does not occur before then, I will be induced at 38 weeks. Is this a common practice?

Yes, this is completely normal. They do this to air on the side of caution. Not because of immediate risk. They've found delivering a baby from a person with this previous experience and loss helps prevent it possibly happening again. I'm so sorry for your loss but congratulations on your rainbow baby :)
