Ah the joys of pregnancy tummy troubles! My bowels were all over the place too – one week I was constipated, the next I had loose stools. Hormones slow down digestion and baby squishes everything, so it's pretty normal. What helped me was upping my fibre and water on the constipated days: lots of pears, prunes, oatmeal and veggies. A warm cup of lemon water first thing and short walks around the block got things moving.


When I had loose motion I switched to bland foods like bananas, toast, plain rice and yoghurt until it settled. Staying hydrated is key with both issues, just sip water or an electrolyte drink if you're going often. Also pay attention to anything that triggers it – spicy or greasy foods made mine worse. If you ever see blood, mucus or get cramps/fever I'd ring your midwife, but occasional swings between loose and sluggish bowels are pretty par for the course according to the mums in my antenatal class.
