How long is it safe to take Duphaston during pregnancy, and what are the potential risks or benefits for my baby?
Artificial Intelligence Health Assistant's Answer

Duphaston is a medication commonly prescribed during pregnancy to support hormonal balance and prevent miscarriage. It contains dydrogesterone, which mimics the effects of progesterone in the body. The duration of taking Duphaston can vary depending on your specific medical condition and the advice of your healthcare provider. Generally, it is recommended to continue taking Duphaston until at least 12-14 weeks of pregnancy, as this is when the placenta takes over progesterone production. However, some women may need to continue taking it for a longer period if they have a history of recurrent miscarriages or other medical conditions that require hormonal support. It's important to follow your doctor's instructions regarding dosage and duration of treatment. As with any medication, there are potential risks and benefits associated with taking Duphaston during pregnancy. While studies have shown no significant harmful effects on fetal development when used as directed, every pregnancy is unique, and individual responses may vary. Some possible side effects include nausea, breast tenderness, dizziness, or changes in menstrual bleeding patterns. Your healthcare provider will carefully assess the benefits versus risks before prescribing Duphaston for you. If you have any concerns or questions about taking this medication during pregnancy, it's best to consult with your doctor for personalized advice based on your specific situation.

I equally used duphaston from day one of my pregnancy to about 26th weeks so my doctor asked me to stop using because the placenta was healthy and strong enough.

It's okay to stop using it or better still consult your doctor.

I wish you all the best
