I am currently 31 weeks pregnant and have already gained 13 kg of weight. What can I do to control my weight gain during pregnancy?
Artificial Intelligence Health Assistant's Answer

During pregnancy, it is normal to gain weight as your body supports the growth and development of your baby. However, excessive weight gain can lead to complications. Here are some tips to help you manage your weight gain during pregnancy:

  • Eat a balanced diet: Focus on consuming nutrient-rich foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Avoid processed foods and sugary snacks.

  • Portion control: Be mindful of portion sizes and listen to your body's hunger cues. Eating smaller meals throughout the day can help prevent overeating.

  • Stay active: Engage in regular physical activity that is safe for pregnancy, such as walking, swimming, or prenatal yoga. Consult with your healthcare provider before starting any exercise routine.

  • Hydrate adequately: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated and avoid unnecessary snacking due to thirst being mistaken for hunger.

  • Limit empty calories: Minimize consumption of sugary beverages like soda or juice and opt for healthier alternatives like infused water or herbal tea.

  • Seek support: Join a prenatal exercise class or connect with other expectant mothers who are also trying to manage their weight gain during pregnancy.

Remember that every woman's body is different, so consult with your healthcare provider for personalized advice based on your specific needs and medical history. They can provide guidance on appropriate weight gain goals during pregnancy while ensuring both you and your baby remain healthy.

Hey there! I've been in the same boat. By the third trimester I had put on more than I expected too. What helped me was focusing on eating real foods and listening to my body. Small, frequent meals with lots of fruit, veg & lean proteins kept me from snacking on junk. I also went for gentle walks every day and did prenatal yoga when I felt up to it. Staying hydrated and cutting back on sugary drinks made a big difference. Don't stress over the exact number on the scale; every body is different, and the weight will come off in time :)
