Is it safe to consume emapazole tablets for the treatment of an ulcer during pregnancy at 17 weeks? I am concerned about the potential risks and effects on my baby's health.

It is important to consult with your healthcare provider before taking any medication, including emapazole tablets, during pregnancy. While emapazole is commonly used to treat ulcers, its safety during pregnancy has not been fully established. Your doctor will consider the potential risks and benefits based on your specific situation. They may recommend alternative treatments or adjust the dosage if necessary. It is crucial to prioritize both your health and the well-being of your baby, so always seek professional medical advice before making any decisions regarding medication use during pregnancy.

I’ve dealt with some nasty heartburn/ulcer type discomfort around that time too and it’s no fun. Personally I wouldn’t take any medication without checking in with my midwife or doctor first, as some meds are perfectly safe in pregnancy and others aren’t. In my case they had me start with diet changes – smaller, bland meals, avoiding spicy or acidic foods, propping myself up at night – and I sipped on chamomile tea and ate plain yoghurt which soothed my stomach. When that didn’t cut it, my provider prescribed a pregnancy-safe antacid. Every body is different, so it’s always worth a quick call to your care team before taking tablets. They can reassure you and suggest alternatives so you and baby stay comfortable and safe.
