I am in my first trimester, just starting the third month. I have been experiencing mild constipation and occasional episodes of diarrhea. Is this normal during early pregnancy?

Yes, it is common to experience constipation and occasional episodes of diarrhea during early pregnancy. Hormonal changes, increased progesterone levels, and the growing uterus can all contribute to these digestive issues. Constipation occurs when the digestive system slows down, allowing more water to be absorbed from the stool, making it harder to pass. On the other hand, diarrhea can occur due to hormonal fluctuations or changes in diet and digestion. It is important to maintain a healthy diet with plenty of fiber-rich foods, drink enough water, exercise regularly, and consider taking prenatal vitamins that include iron but consult your healthcare provider before taking any medication or supplements. If you are concerned about your symptoms or they become severe or persistent, it is always best to consult with your healthcare provider for further evaluation and guidance.

Digestive problems are quite normal in first trimester because body is getting ready for the baby..so eat things which are easy to digest..fruits, juices should be taken.
