I am currently 6 weeks pregnant and experiencing minimal nausea without vomiting. Can I expect my symptoms to worsen in the upcoming week?

Nausea, commonly known as morning sickness, is a common symptom experienced by many pregnant women. While it varies from person to person, it is possible for your nausea to worsen as you progress into your 6th week of pregnancy. Hormonal changes and increased levels of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) are believed to be the primary causes of morning sickness. These symptoms typically peak around the 9th week and gradually subside by the end of the first trimester. However, it's important to note that every pregnancy is different, and some women may experience more severe or prolonged symptoms than others. If your nausea becomes unbearable or if you are unable to keep any food or fluids down, it is recommended to consult with your healthcare provider for further guidance and support. They may be able to suggest remedies or medications that can help alleviate your symptoms and ensure both you and your baby stay healthy during this time.

Hey there! Every pregnancy is sooo different, so it’s kinda impossible to predict exactly what your tummy will do. In my first pregnancy I felt okay until around 7–8 weeks and then the queasiness ramped up for a bit, but with my second I barely felt any nausea at all. A lot of us find that hormones peak in the first trimester so some women do feel worse for a few weeks, others stay the same.

Little tricks like eating small bland snacks (crackers, toast, fruit), sipping ginger tea or lemonade and getting plenty of rest can help if the nausea does pick up. If you’re one of the lucky ones it might stay mild – fingers crossed! And of course if you ever start vomiting nonstop or feel dizzy/dehydrated it’s worth mentioning it to your midwife/doctor just to be safe. But for now, just take each day as it comes. ✨
