I'm currently in my 12th week of pregnancy and experiencing weight loss due to a decreased appetite. I also have nausea. What can I do or take to manage these symptoms?

    Those first trimester weeks can be rough! I dropped a couple of kilos around 10–12 weeks because I just couldn't keep much down and everything smelled awful. My midwife told me it was okay as long as I was staying hydrated and taking my prenatal. I survived on dry crackers, toast, soups and fruit smoothies in small amounts throughout the day. Ginger tea and sucking on peppermint sweets helped settle my tummy. Eating a little bit before getting out of bed and keeping snacks by my bedside made mornings easier too. Most of us start feeling better around 14–16 weeks and your appetite usually comes roaring back, and you'll catch up on weight then. If you're vomiting constantly or can't keep fluids down definitely talk to your doctor or midwife, but a bit of early weight loss is really common.
