I am currently in my fourth month of pregnancy and experiencing constipation, sharp abdominal pain, and gas. What can I do to alleviate these symptoms?

During pregnancy, hormonal changes can lead to constipation, abdominal pain, and gas. To alleviate these symptoms, try increasing your fiber intake through fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Staying hydrated is also important. Regular exercise can help stimulate bowel movements. Avoiding foods that cause gas such as beans or carbonated drinks may provide relief. If symptoms persist or worsen, consult your healthcare provider for further guidance.

Constipation and gas were my constant companions around 4 months too . The progesterone slows everything down. I found upping my water intake and adding more fibre helped a lot – think fruits, veggies, oats. Prunes or warm lemon water in the morning got things moving for me. Gentle walks also seemed to ease the bloating and cramps. For sharp pains, sometimes it was just trapped gas or round ligament pain; changing positions or stretching gently would relieve it. Of course if it's severe or you're worried, mention it at your next appointment. But for many of us it's just another glamorous pregnancy symptom
