Is it normal to experience pain under the abdomen at 24 weeks of pregnancy? If so, how can I manage and alleviate this discomfort?

It is common for pregnant women to experience pain under the abdomen at 24 weeks. This discomfort can be caused by various factors such as round ligament pain, Braxton Hicks contractions, or stretching of the uterus. To manage and alleviate this discomfort, you can try practicing good posture, wearing supportive maternity clothing, using a pregnancy pillow for better sleep, engaging in gentle exercises approved by your healthcare provider, applying heat or cold packs to the affected area, taking warm baths or showers for relaxation, practicing deep breathing techniques or prenatal yoga for stress relief. However, if the pain becomes severe or is accompanied by other symptoms like bleeding or fever, it is important to consult your healthcare provider immediately as it could indicate a more serious condition. They will be able to provide you with appropriate guidance and ensure both your safety and that of your baby.

At about 24 weeks I remember getting a dull ache under my bump and sometimes a sharp twinge when I stood up. Most of the time it's just your ligaments stretching or the baby pressing on nerves – even trapped gas can hurt. I found that taking it easy, changing positions, and doing some gentle stretching or prenatal yoga really helped. A warm bath or heat pack on my hips/lower back relaxed things, and wearing a belly support band took some pressure off. Staying hydrated and eating fibre helped with the gas/constipation too. If it's not severe and there's no bleeding it's usually nothing serious, but trust your instincts and rest when you need to. Lots of mums in my antenatal group had the same thing around that time. :)
