    I had a similar dip in my haemoglobin around the halfway point and my midwife reassured me it happens to a lot of us because our blood volume increases so much. She suggested upping my intake of iron‑rich foods like spinach, broccoli, beans, lentils and a bit of red meat, and having some vitamin C (like orange juice or peppers) with those meals to help absorb the iron. I also tried not to drink tea or coffee with meals as they can make it harder to absorb iron.


    In my case I ended up taking an over‑the‑counter iron supplement for a few weeks on top of my prenatal vitamins, and my levels came back up. Definitely mention it at your next appointment so they can decide if you need a supplement, but focusing on iron in your diet and staying well hydrated can make a big difference.
