I am currently 21 weeks pregnant and I have noticed that I no longer feel the usual sensations of pregnancy in my stomach. However, I can still hear my baby's heartbeat. What could be causing this loss of baby feeling and should I be concerned?

It is not uncommon for pregnant women to experience a change in sensations and movements as their pregnancy progresses. While it can be concerning to no longer feel the typical baby movements or "baby feeling" in your stomach at 21 weeks, there are several reasons why this might occur.

Firstly, as your baby grows and develops, they may change position within the uterus. This can result in their movements being less noticeable or felt differently. Additionally, the position of your placenta can also affect how you perceive your baby's movements. If the placenta is located at the front of your uterus (anterior placenta), it can act as a cushion between your baby's movements and your abdomen, making them less noticeable.

Another factor to consider is that every pregnancy is unique, and each woman may experience different sensations or changes in movement throughout their pregnancy. Some women may have more pronounced feelings of movement earlier on while others may not feel much until later stages.

However, if you are concerned about the sudden loss of baby feeling despite hearing a heartbeat during routine check-ups, it is always best to consult with your healthcare provider. They will be able to assess your specific situation and provide guidance based on your individual circumstances.

In some cases, further tests such as an ultrasound may be recommended to ensure everything is progressing well with your pregnancy. Remember that every woman's experience with pregnancy is different, so try not to compare yourself too much with others or worry unnecessarily.

Overall, while it can be disconcerting to no longer feel the typical baby movements or "baby feeling" in your stomach at 21 weeks, there are several reasons why this might occur. It is important to consult with your healthcare provider for a proper evaluation and reassurance.
