I'm currently 19 weeks and 6 days pregnant, and I haven't felt any movement from my baby yet. When can I expect to start feeling the baby move? Are there any tips or suggestions for encouraging normal delivery?
Artificial Intelligence Health Assistant's Answer

It is common for first-time mothers to start feeling their baby's movements between 18-25 weeks of pregnancy. However, every pregnancy is different, so some women may feel movement earlier or later than others. If you haven't felt any movement by now, don't worry; it could still be a few more weeks before you experience those precious kicks.

To encourage normal delivery, here are some tips:

  • Stay active: Engage in regular exercise suitable for pregnancy, such as walking or prenatal yoga. These activities help strengthen your pelvic muscles and prepare your body for labor.

  • Practice good posture: Maintaining proper posture throughout your pregnancy can help align your baby correctly in the birth canal, making delivery easier.

  • Attend childbirth education classes: These classes provide valuable information on breathing techniques, relaxation exercises, and positions that can aid in a smoother delivery.

  • Consider hiring a doula: A doula is a trained professional who provides emotional and physical support during labor and childbirth. Their presence can greatly enhance your birthing experience.

  • Stay hydrated and eat well: Proper nutrition is essential for both you and your baby's health during pregnancy. Make sure to consume a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains.

  • Practice perineal massage: Starting around 34 weeks of pregnancy, gently massaging the perineal area (the tissue between the vagina and anus) with oil can help stretch these tissues and reduce the risk of tearing during delivery.

  • Relaxation techniques: Explore various relaxation techniques like deep breathing, meditation, or visualization exercises to help manage pain and reduce anxiety during labor.

Remember, every woman's birthing experience is unique. It's essential to discuss your birth plan and any concerns with your healthcare provider to ensure a safe and positive delivery.

I only started feeling my baby move at 23weeks and 5days. I know it can be stressful but you'll soon feel. Remember your pregnancy is not like everyone else's.
