I had a really sensitive tummy around 6 weeks with both of my kids. Those early pregnancy hormones mess with your digestion – sometimes you're constipated and other times everything runs right through you. I also found my sense of smell was way stronger, so what would normally be a mild smell seemed super stinky to me. If you’ve been eating more fibre or taking prenatal vitamins/iron they can change the odour too. As long as you’re not running a fever, having blood in your stool or getting dehydrated, the occasional bout of loose, smelly poo is usually just your body adjusting. Stick to bland foods like toast, rice, bananas and lots of water. Yogurt with live cultures helped settle my gut, and I switched to a different brand of vitamin when it got bad. Of course if it lasts more than a couple days or comes with bad cramps, it’s worth calling your GP or midwife just to be sure.
