At 7 weeks of pregnancy, my TSH level was 129 and my gynecologist recommended abortion. Is it possible to manage this condition with the proper dose of levothyroxine, or is abortion the only option?

It is important to consult with your healthcare provider regarding your specific situation. However, a high TSH level during early pregnancy can indicate an underactive thyroid, which may pose risks to both the mother and the developing fetus. In some cases, managing this condition with medication, such as levothyroxine, may be possible. Levothyroxine can help regulate thyroid hormone levels and reduce potential complications. However, every case is unique, and your doctor will consider various factors before making a recommendation. It is crucial to discuss all available options and potential risks with your healthcare provider to make an informed decision about whether to continue the pregnancy or pursue other options.

Oh mama, that must have been so scary to hear. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism years ago and my TSH shot up when I got pregnant too. My midwife and an endocrinologist put me on levothyroxine and monitored my levels every few weeks. I adjusted the dose and went on to have a healthy baby. I also know other women in my circle who had really high TSH early on and carried to term with the right care. Everyone's case is different, so if you're feeling unsure maybe seek a second opinion from a thyroid specialist. It's definitely not something you should have to decide alone. Sending hugs ❤️
