I am currently in my 15th week of pregnancy and recently had a prenatal consultation where I underwent a PCV test. The result came back as 32%. Is this result considered normal for someone in their second trimester? Additionally, I have noticed a reduction in my weight. What are the possible causes for this? Thank you.
Artificial Intelligence Health Assistant's Answer

A PCV (Packed Cell Volume) level of 32% during the second trimester of pregnancy is generally within the normal range. However, it is important to consult with your healthcare provider for an accurate interpretation based on your specific circumstances. There can be various reasons for weight reduction during pregnancy, including morning sickness, increased metabolism, or inadequate nutrition. It is recommended to discuss your concerns with your healthcare provider who can provide personalized advice and guidance based on your individual situation.

When I first had my PCV tested, it was 33% and they said it was the benchmark, so when I was asked to repeat the test this third trimester it has dropped to 31% and the Doctor still said it is ok.

So, I think that 32% is ok. Wishing you all the best!
