asked Oct 23, 2021 in Pregnancy Period General by Dmh
I am currently 3 days late on my period, but I tested positive for pregnancy yesterday and today. Is it common to experience light pink discharge during this stage of pregnancy? What could be the possible causes?
Artificial Intelligence Health Assistant's Answer

It is not uncommon for women to experience light pink discharge during early pregnancy, including at around 4 weeks and 2 days gestation. This type of discharge is usually harmless and can be attributed to various factors. One possible cause is implantation bleeding, which occurs when the fertilized egg attaches itself to the uterine lining. This can result in mild spotting or a small amount of blood mixed with cervical mucus. Another potential cause is hormonal changes that affect the cervix, leading to slight bleeding or spotting. In some cases, light pink discharge may also be due to cervical irritation from sexual intercourse or a vaginal infection. However, if you experience heavy bleeding, severe cramping, or any other concerning symptoms alongside the discharge, it is important to consult your healthcare provider for further evaluation and guidance.
