Initially, my prolactin levels were very high at 175. After taking Cabergolin for 3 months, I got pregnant but had an abortion in the 4th month. My prolactin levels increased again, so I took Caberlin 0.5 for 5 months. Now I am pregnant again and currently taking Caberlin 0.5 twice a week. Will this medication affect my ability to breastfeed in the future? How long will it take for the effects of Caberlin to wear off? Please advise.

Taking Caberlin during pregnancy can potentially affect your ability to breastfeed in the future. The medication works by reducing prolactin levels, which is necessary for milk production. While there is limited research on the specific effects of Caberlin on breastfeeding, it is generally recommended to discontinue its use during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.

The duration for which the effects of Caberlin may persist can vary from person to person. It depends on factors such as individual metabolism and how long you have been taking the medication. It is advisable to consult with your healthcare provider who can provide personalized guidance based on your medical history and current situation.

If you are concerned about maintaining or establishing a healthy milk supply, there are alternative medications and techniques that can be explored under medical supervision. Additionally, working closely with a lactation consultant can help support successful breastfeeding once your baby arrives.

Remember that every woman's experience with breastfeeding is unique, and it's important to prioritize both your health and your baby's well-being throughout this process.
