asked Aug 14, 2021 in Baby Health During Pregnancy by madhavi amalraj
I'm currently in my 18th week of pregnancy and I've been noticing a white discharge on a daily basis. Is this normal or should I be concerned? What could be causing it?
Artificial Intelligence Health Assistant's Answer

It is common for pregnant women to experience an increase in vaginal discharge, including a white or milky discharge, throughout their pregnancy. This is usually nothing to worry about and can be attributed to hormonal changes and increased blood flow to the vaginal area. The discharge helps keep the vagina clean and prevents infections. However, if you notice any changes in color, consistency, or have other symptoms such as itching, odor, or discomfort, it is important to consult your healthcare provider as it could indicate an infection or other underlying issue. They can provide proper diagnosis and recommend appropriate treatment if necessary. In general, maintaining good hygiene by wearing breathable underwear, avoiding douching or using scented products in the genital area, and practicing safe sex can help prevent infections and maintain vaginal health during pregnancy.

Yes it's perfectly normal to have it. The discharge is flushing your vagina out to keep it healthy.
