asked Apr 27, 2021 in Pregnancy Period General by Janessa
I'm currently 35 weeks and 4 days pregnant, and for the past week, I've been experiencing a clear jelly-like discharge along with vaginal pain, including shooting pain. Should I be concerned and call my obstetrician, or is this a normal occurrence during pregnancy?

It is important to consult your obstetrician when you experience any unusual symptoms during pregnancy. While some amount of vaginal discharge is normal during pregnancy, changes in consistency or color may indicate an infection or other complications. Clear jelly-like discharge can be a sign of increased cervical mucus as your body prepares for labor. However, if you are also experiencing vaginal pain, including shooting pain, it could be a sign of preterm labor or other issues that require medical attention. Contact your healthcare provider to discuss your symptoms and get appropriate guidance based on your specific situation. They will be able to assess whether further examination or tests are necessary to ensure the health and well-being of both you and your baby.
