I recently heard my baby's first fetal heartbeat at 5 weeks and 4 days. Can this early detection help determine if it's a boy or a girl?
Artificial Intelligence Health Assistant's Answer

At just 5 weeks and 4 days, it is too early to determine the gender of your baby based on the fetal heartbeat. The average fetal heart rate ranges between 120-160 beats per minute (BPM) during this stage of pregnancy, regardless of gender. Gender determination is typically done through ultrasound or genetic testing later in pregnancy. While some old wives' tales suggest that a higher or lower heart rate may indicate a specific gender, there is no scientific evidence to support these claims. It's best to wait for further testing or an ultrasound scan for accurate gender determination.

It's kind of odd for them to give you a heartrate reading that early on... most won't until late 6 weeks to 7 weeks along gestationally speaking.

That being said, both of my boys were 140 bpm or above when I was pregnant with them. I've come to find this myth, among others, is simply not true.

I would wait until between 16 and 18 weeks to find out. As long as baby isn't shy, that is. ☺️ I wish you a healthy pregnancy and safe delivery!
