asked Feb 18, 2021 in Baby Health During Pregnancy by anonymous
Is it normal for the ultrasound to show a difference of 9 days from my last menstrual period (LMP) when I am in the 37th week of pregnancy? Additionally, my baby's weight is currently at 2650 grams. Can you please provide some guidance or suggestions?

It is not uncommon for there to be a slight discrepancy between the estimated gestational age based on your last menstrual period (LMP) and the measurements obtained from an ultrasound. Ultrasounds are more accurate in determining gestational age during early pregnancy, but as pregnancy progresses, there can be variations due to factors such as growth spurts or individual differences in fetal development.

A difference of 9 days between your LMP and ultrasound measurement in the 37th week is within an acceptable range. It is important to remember that due dates are estimates and can vary slightly. Your healthcare provider will consider multiple factors, including ultrasound measurements, to assess your baby's growth and well-being.

As for your baby's weight at 2650 grams, this falls within a normal range for a fetus at this stage of pregnancy. However, it is essential to consult with your healthcare provider who will evaluate various factors like maternal health, fetal growth patterns, and other indicators to ensure everything is progressing well.

If you have any concerns about the accuracy of your due date or your baby's growth, it is best to discuss them with your healthcare provider. They can provide personalized guidance based on your specific circumstances and address any questions or worries you may have.

It's super common for the ultrasound to show a few days or even a week off from your LMP. Babies grow at their own pace and sometimes measurements just don't line up perfectly. If your doctor thinks your baby is healthy, a few days difference is usually no big deal.
