I am currently 26 weeks pregnant and have been experiencing intense pain in my waist and leg joints, causing me to limp. What could be the cause of this discomfort and what can I do to alleviate it?

During pregnancy, hormonal changes and weight gain can put extra pressure on your joints, leading to pain and discomfort. Additionally, the growing uterus can compress nerves in the lower back, causing radiating pain down the legs. This condition is known as sciatica. To alleviate these symptoms, try practicing good posture, wearing supportive shoes, using heat or cold therapy, doing gentle exercises like swimming or prenatal yoga, and seeking chiropractic or physical therapy treatments. It's important to consult with your healthcare provider for an accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment plan.

oh man, hip & leg aches around 26 weeks are the worst ‍♀️ i had some days where my pelvis felt like it was splitting and i’d limp around too. hormones like relaxin loosen up your joints and ligaments, and the growing bump can throw your posture off and irritate your sciatic nerve. try to take it easy, avoid heavy lifting, and use a maternity belt for extra support. gentle stretches, prenatal yoga and warm baths helped me heaps. sleeping with a pillow between your knees can also relieve pressure. if the pain is really intense or one side swells/red, chat to your doc to rule out anything serious.
