Why does my 1-month-old wake up when I put him down to sleep, but sleeps perfectly in my arms?

Why does my 1-month-old baby consistently wake up as soon as I put him down to sleep, but sleeps peacefully when he is in my arms? Is there a reason for this behavior and how can I help him sleep independently?

It's simple... He loves his momma  my baby is almost 2 months old and I also have that problem sometimes. I try with pacifier or wait until he falls asleep completely before putting him down. I also lay him on his belly, even tho new studies don't recommend it (not sure why... We all slept in bellies as babies). He hates sleeping on his back. That wakes him up immediately.

Same issue also. My 1month old sleeps well in my hands or on my chest. Lay her down and immediately she's awake for hours.  What to do?
