in Baby Health During Pregnancy by
I am currently 14 weeks pregnant and during an echo, the doctor couldn't detect a heartbeat. The baby is still small. Should I be worried about this?
Artificial Intelligence Health Assistant's Answer

It can be concerning if a heartbeat cannot be detected on an echo at 14 weeks of pregnancy, especially when the baby is still small. However, there are several factors that could contribute to this situation. Firstly, it's important to consider the quality of the equipment used for the echo as well as the expertise of the person performing it. Sometimes, due to technical limitations or inexperience, a heartbeat may not be detected accurately. Secondly, fetal positioning can also affect the ability to hear a heartbeat during an echo. If the baby is positioned in such a way that makes it difficult for sound waves to reach its heart, it may result in no audible heartbeat during the scan. Lastly, every pregnancy is unique and some babies develop at different rates than others. At 14 weeks, some babies may still be too small for their heartbeat to be easily detected on an echo. In such cases, doctors might recommend waiting for a few more weeks and repeating the scan to get a clearer picture of the baby's development and ensure everything is progressing normally. It's crucial not to jump to conclusions or panic based solely on one scan result but instead consult with your healthcare provider who can provide you with further guidance and reassurance based on your specific circumstances.

So what advice did he give you from his findings? He can't hear no heartbeat sound and keep quiet to that or allow you go like that. It needs attention.

Its not normal... Heartbeat can be revognised in between 7-10 weeks itself. Please consult a good doctor and clarify.
